Netflix is rolling out a new AI-powered search feature that lets you find shows and movies by describing what you're in the mood for.
Instead of typing specific titles or genres, you can now enter phrases like "I want something funny and upbeat" or "Show me a thrilling drama with a strong female lead." The AI, powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT, interprets your request and suggests content that matches your description.
This feature is currently available as an opt-in beta for iOS users, with initial testing in Australia and New Zealand. A wider rollout is expected soon.
In addition to the AI search, Netflix is updating its TV app interface for the first time in a decade. The redesign includes a more intuitive homepage, repositioned search and "My List" options, and plans to test a vertical video feed on mobile devices, similar to TikTok's format.
